diy 1920s flapper dress

I love any excuse to dress up, and last week I had a 30th flappers birthday party to attend. So with the help of my wonderful mum who does all my sewing, we created this cute little dress.

Supplies
cheap nightie or dress (I got mine for $5 from big w)
1 1/2 mtr flapper fringing (I got mine from spotlight), you may need more or less depending on your size. You also can run the fringing all the way up the dress, in that case you would need a lot more.
buttons - optional
sewing machine and thread, or depending on the fabric you could attach fringing with fabric glue.

Instructions
My nightie flared out at the bottom, so we ran it in at both sides to create a straighter look.
Put the nightie on and get someone to help you attach fringing around the bottom, pinning into place.
Sew onto fabric with a zigzag stitch.

I replaced the satin nightie buttons with sparkly ones to make it look less like a nightie.

And your done, just add stockings, garter belt, shoes and pearls.

And yes, that is a fake smoke :)
